Black and white photograph of Grand Marshall N.W. Collins, July 4, 1911. He is sitting on his horse. Back of photo is captioned: "This is the picture of the greatest politician and lover of all times, the late Nelson Collins ("Nel"). He was County Clerk, a position he held for many years, until his health broke. He was a lrg mason, Knight Templar, and Odd Fellow. He electioned from the day he went into office all during the term. He kissed all the babies and the old ladies, the rest of the women he shook hands, was very courteous and pleasant. I am not sure if "Nel" was born in Calistoga, but the "Cables' were in his family. He was married to Miss Elizabeth White, a teacher in Calisto

On back of photo is written: I have referred back to my notes that I made while doing research work to write "The History of the Napa Fire Department from 1859 to 1963," which appeared in the Napa Register's Centennial, Saturday, March 30, 1963. "The sixth volunteer fire company, called 'The East Napa Fire Company' was organized about 1902, according to Dave Cavagnaro. The City financed the company, and purchased their equipment which was stored in Penny's Lumber yard, Soscol Avenue and Third Street." Sepia photograph of Leo Domini Cavagnaro sitting in chair in front of house dated May 1933. Cavagnaro lived at 619 Third St., this is possibly that house. Back of photo: Leo Domini Cavagnaro was born in Cammechi, Calaveras County, California, July 29, 1882. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrea Cavagnaro. He came to Napa when a young boy. He became a member of the East Napa Fire Company (volunteers) when the company was organized, about 1902. He married Aurelia Mangini, May 31, 1905. They had two daughters. He was employed at Mare Island at his retirement. He passed away June 1961. Buried in the Tulocay cemetery, Napa California. --Rita Harren Bordwell Location: PF 11A

He did some work in the Even and Even Butcher Shop, worked in a cleaning establishment, but for many years worked for Abe Straus' men's clothing store and took over the management of the store when Abe, who had a stroke, was unable to do anything. When Abe died he left Bob a large part of the estate. Bob was member of the Alerts Horse Cart Company (volunteers) for years. --Rita Harren Bordwell" Location: PF 22A
