Description Photo captures a group of men standing around a grain thrasher. Caption on back of the photo:

"Taken about 1898. Grain threasher of Frank Alexander. Frank Alexander standing in center. Belt at left of picture goes to steam engine (not in picture) which runs the threasher and which is fed by the straw left after threashing grain. Also not shown in picture is cook house on wheels, where Chinese cook reigned supreme. Feed wagon and water wagon also not shown. Full crew consisted of 20 men, and there were 21 horses which were used when threasher was moved. Worked from daylite till dark, ate 3 meals and 2 lunches between the meals. Frank Alexander in center of picture and second to left of him, seated, is his father."
